Looking for Fox (but never found him)

Post by Dave C » Sun Sep 06, 2009 10:46 am

The Gamekeeper rang me last night and asked me to keep an eye out as 2 Foxes had been spotted on my permission.
So i was out at first light, looking in all the likely places, but they were no where to be seen.
But it wasnt a total waste of time.

Pics are not the best (sorry), as the morning drew on and know sign of foxes, decided to knock a bit of Vermin off.
4 Rabbits, a Crow and a Magpie, not a bad morning after all.

The smallest rabbit came in handy for a bit of training with my pup Fern.

Her first time retrieving Fur, so i was over the moon.
It seems one step closer to getting her out hunting.

We do have Terriers and it is legal to dig them on keepered land, but to tell you the truth i was hopeing to flush them from cover and get a shot at them.
We will be going out with the Lamp later in the week to see if we can get them with the rifle, will let you know how we get on.

Great pictures. That is some beautiful country you hunt. Good luck on the fox. Wish we could knock them all out of this area. They're hard on my quail covies...

Nice dogs. Those lurchers look to be well muscled and in shape. I like the look of that dog in the second picture, some leg under him. A couple Borders I see as well. What is the Chesnut and Tan dog? A spaniel cross?
