info needed for MI grouse

thinking of going to lower penn of mi for grouse . i want to get my 17 mnth old gsp on some wild birds and wont be able to get out west. just hoping to get some info on public land to try . maybe a county name or fwa . the ruffed grouse society has a guide book has any one used it ? there is also some maps in the pointing dog journal one is for mi its supposed to show public land pretty good has any one used it or could recommend a good map ? also what about bear, wolf , and or mountain lion problems in the lower penn. i was thinking about the silver lake area or somewhere around greyling. thanks for any info you could spare.

I have heard the Grayling area is good, but I personally have not been there. I have been to the U.P. once and I would go there if I was going to Michigan. There is no need to worry about Mtn. Lions and bears will stay away from the dogs...and besides you have a gun..
