WI Grouse population

Post by bondoron » Sat Jun 10, 2006 2:00 pm

I know it doesn't mean a whole lot, but the WI DNR is reporting drumming up 27%. I hope this means the pop. is on its way up again finally.

Ron, I noticed an upswing in the number of birds last year. If that was any indication I'm hopeful that the numbers will be even stronger this year!

I noticed a small increase here. Hoping for much more though. I would agree in wanting to see the #'s come up.

I hope they are up here in Ontario as well this year. I saw more ruffed grouse last year then I did the previous two. I hope that is a sign of good things to come!!

HMMMMM must be from Minnesota to screw up those #'s that bad.

4 Paws I saw that too. I just happen to be in the north, so I am getting excited. I still realize those are DNR #'s so who knows what that means for population this year.

I hunt Northern Michigan and although they can have different weather patterns the cycles generaly follow the same trends. From what I saw last year the numbers were up last year so I am anticipating that the numbers will climb even higher. I figure the peak to be around 2009....so we are definetly getting closer!! ...................Point! Paws
