Early Goose Hunt

Post by gundogguru » Thu Sep 07, 2006 5:56 am

We are leaving tonite for NC for the early goose season. Just a warm up for my GWP before we leave for NODAK on the 5th of next month. I'll try and post some pictures when we get back.

Was out on Tuesday for our opener and got a few but not the amout of birds around that we had seen a few days earlier.
Have another field lined up for Saturday morning and hoping for an even better shoot.
Good luck on your hunt.

The goose hunt turned in to a goose chase. And we lost. We had 6 come to the decoys and 3 flew out and that was it. The outfitter we hunted with was dumd struck with the missing geese. He drove around all day and in to the night and could not find the birds any where. So we did not hunt Saturday and he didn't charge use for Friday's hunt. We still gave him something for his time and will go back next year the outfitter is a great guy and really puts the time in for his hunters. We hunted with him last year and had 3 limits in less than an hour and 2 of my hunting partners went last week end and shot 2 limits Friday and Saturday.

Gunner did great it was her first time in a Avery dog finisher blind. And she took to it like she had been doing it all her life.

Glad we were not the only ones!

Ours was quite dull too! We did manage to get a few Geese the first outing, and several stupid Teal!

Still have a week to go though.

QC we had over a 100 green heads working the decoys and it really was hard not to wack a couple of them. Just have to wait till next month for our trip to NODAK to smack some green.
