Standing Rock Indian Reservation

Post by Vision » Mon Oct 22, 2012 6:51 pm

Anybody on this forum have experience hunting the reservation?

If you buy a ND state license and an tribal license does that mean you can shoot 8 birds per day, 3 on private land, and 5 on tribal land?

Tribal land is like being in another country. I've never done it personally but know people who have.yesss 5 on tribal nd 3 on private/public/USA.
Just get leg bands before leaving the tribe. Because entering the us you're not legal.

That's just what I've been told by friends who hunted tribal land. Not my kind of hunting if you ask me. To much BS and two much spent on lisence fees. IMO.

Have fun though.

I would check further on this before I went and shot 8, daily limit is normally the greater of the two limits if there is a difference. I could be wrong but I would sure check first.

Short answer you may not shoot 8 birds. Once you leave the reservation the following is enforced regardless of where you shot them..see below. I am sure someone on a reservation has tried to do the reverse, shoot birds then bring the state limit back to the reservation, but even with that you would violate the reservations possesion limit pretty quickly.

The aggregate daily bag limit is equal
to, but shall not exceed, the largest daily bag limit prescribed for any
one species or for any one specifi ed geographic area (typically a second
state, Indian reservation, hunting unit or zone within a state) in which taking
occurs.
