A Winter Grouse and a Tired Dog

Post by m2244 » Sun Dec 09, 2012 5:16 pm

We tried a new spot today, a ridge with some of the steepest hills in the area. Once you get up there it's great but if the bird heads down over, he's fairly safe. We got one bird and had probaly 12 or so flushes in less than 2 hours, that's pretty good for Vermont grouse hunting. To say that my shooting skills could be better is an understatement but I wouldn't want to shoot every bird I see.

The second kick from a mule is of very little educational value - from Wing and Shot.

i shoot over heads of most grouse. you are right, shoot grouse and your hunting will get worst.
with more hunters using GPS , more grouse will be killed.

Dipped in flour seasoned with a garlic, cracked pepper and something else rub. My son asked me why I don't always cook it that way. I'll have to start.

6+ birds/hour would be.........quite good.

I would plump for some potatoes, cauliflower, beets, salad and, maybe a fork.

Pup looks Old Hemlocky, what with that noble head.
