Scratch for first day hunt!

Woodcock season opened today in Louisiana. Hunted from 630am to 11am and nothing. Tried in three types of terrain which included hardwood bottoms along the creek(lots of wood ducks!!) thickets, and short pine cutover with yellow grass. There just were no woodcock to be found. Waiting on more cold fronts to come in. We did find three to four wild coveys while quail hunting the past month. It was a joy to put the dogs in wild birds! Nothing can compare! Sorry, no pics just hard hunting- but loving it!
