ND Duck hunt pics

Post by hoffmann35 » Sat Oct 14, 2006 4:42 pm

Just got back from our duck trip yesterday. The hunt was amazing and nothing like I have ever seen.

The first day was a one shirt day and by the end it was find whatever you can and throw it on.

I am in Jamestown, 100 miles south of D.L. and our duck numbers have been poor this year so far. Goose numbers are very good though!!

Congrats on your hunt!!

Thanks coach, but look for the ducks to start pouring down there. The numbers probably doubled the last two days we were there. Only bad thing was that most of the sloughs froze up last Wednesday and Thursday, so they are keeping to the big water or pushing out. When we went through Jamestown, I don't think I did see any ducks on any of the potholes, but if they didn't freeze, then look out. I think you had most of the geese there. We didn't see all that many up there. Hope you do well this season.

We got back from Woodworth ND saturday. we had a great time as always the hunting this year was hard but ended up with 70 ducks 1 banded green head 5 geese and 3 sharp tails. I only took my wirehair and she had a ball she just loves those smelly pot holes and did great on the ducks and geese. We had 30 mph winds almost all week so pointing grouse was very hard but she did manage to point 1 covey of about 15 birds got 2 off the riase. and got 1 more later. Great trip great people can't wait till next year.

I was waiting to hear how your trip went Guru. This was my first year up there but everyone else said it was quite a bit easier last year. We definately had to work for our birds. Glad to hear you shot some sharpies. We saw quite a few up our way. No bands this year out of the seven of us. Would like to some pics if you have any.

I can't believe you guys were shooting Spooners. For every Spooner in the bag the shooter adds a dollar to the beer fund. :P

Glad you all had fun!

Ya the spooners got shot early. We didn't like that we shot them, but they got ground up and put in spaghetti. It all tastes the same in that.

You guys gotta get to ND more. The formula there is as follows:

Flies=Dies=Done in 20 Minutes (15 of which were walking from the car to the blind and back)

You gotta learn to be selective.

Sometimes 20 minutes is fine with me when the wind chill is hitting the single digits :D
