Did I read the South Dakota reg's right, do I need to pick 2 five day periods for pheasant hunting in South Dakota?

Thanks,
Brad

I believe its a 10 day license that you can break down into two 5 day periods. You can't just come and go as you please, but season in SD is over now have to wait till next fall anyhow.

You have to pick both 5 day periods when you get your license. Pick your second 5 day period to be the last 5 days of the season. You can change the days if you come back and hunt a second time or you can hunt 10 days in a row if you stay that long. Wal-Mart does not charge for changing your days.

I didn't know you could change your second 5 day period. How do you go about that?

I've always bought mine online. You can also change it online as long as you put the last 5 days down for the last 5 days of the season it's a matter of minutes and you can print out the new dates. I am unfamiliar with what you need to do if you buy it from a retailer in SD.

Non-Resident small game permit was $110 in 2007.

Not sure how it is in SD but in ND you can buy more than one for out of state. If you use up your 2 5 day hunting times you can purchase another one if needed. May want to look into it if you want more hunting time. Where in SD are you hunting?

No need to pick the last 5 days of the season and then switch that.

You can change your 5 day periods--the first or the 2nd one-- at any time after you buy your license, as long as it's before that period starts. The regs state "prior to" which I would assume would mean you'd have to have had the dates changed and that change recorded the day before your period starts.

Also you can buy more than one license--they are happy to take your $110 as many times as you want to send it to them....
