Ok well i really wont be able to travel to far out of GA to hunt this year but next year im wanting to line up a trip and wanted to get some ideas and thoughts from you that do it a lot....i live in GA and would like to drive out west and it would be my Me, wife, son, Grandpa, Grandma (I want to take them but they may not go they used to travel a lot but are getting older) My grandpa just loves to see the dogs run and i want him to be able to go with me....Then my grandma and wife (soon to be ill be married in August) can maybe venture off and have a good time too....
I would definitely want to be doing this before really cold weather and snow and i may could only take a week to a week and half off....where would you go? i am a newbie to upland hunting but i have been out west fishing before and traveled around to Montana, Yellowstone, a lot of other places when i was young (well im only 22 so when i was in high school)
Any thoughts as to where you would be looking to go? me and my grandpa could go out hunting then the women could go off and have good time and then things we could all do basically a vacation/hunting trip?
Thanks

Mid fall is pretty nice here in Idaho. Sharptails, pheasants, quail, forest grouse, huns and chukars are all availabe and fishing is good for those that don't want to hunt.

If you hit MN, the women folk could hit the Mall of America. You may need to hit a preserve that way, but I do believe there are decent bird #s around that region...
Here's the Minnesota DNR website:
http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/hunting/index.html
Bop around the website for long enough & you'll get an idea of where the birds are at.
There's also South Dakota, too...Pheasant wonderland!
