Nice Rooster

Post by rkelly » Sun Dec 07, 2008 9:10 pm

Was out hunting again in ND today, shot my biggest rooster of the year. Was a great day and the pup did a A1 job. He only had 1 spur, must of lost the other in a fight.

Holy crap!

Are you getting that guy stuffed? You will need to build a separate room so it can fit

Tail feathers measure just over 25 in. I did get him over a point. He was hunkered down in a cattail slough under the snow. I had to practically step on him to get him up, I know without a dog there is no way he would of flown, bc sure didn't want to. I must of kicked around 5 times within a foot of him after she went on point and he didn't fly until I pretty much stepped right on him. Was a great weekend in ND, tons of birds. Must of seen 300-400 in the last two days.

Here are some more from today

It's weird how the bars on the tail really thicken out towards the end as opposed to thinning out. Be sure to hang onto those.
