Arizona Hunting

Post by anne » Thu Dec 18, 2008 2:05 pm

So, while my fellow Weim people were having a very successful week at Nationals (Congrats to Aline and Pam), we decided to play at home. We have taken several trips out to Arizona to chase some Mearns Quail and thought I'd share some photos.

Mearns Quail Country:

You can faintly see Sascha, 18 month old green broke puppy, pointing in the middle of the photo in the shadows. These trips have been phenomenal for him!

Here is his mom, my girl Indy backing my friends dog:

So the weekend before she blew MH leg #4 because not only did she blink a back, she blinked and then stole point! She literally squished herself in between the pointing dog and the bush... I apologized profusely to the other handler, it was embarrassing, but she was so down right blantant about her black hearted ways, I kind of had to chuckle.... Fast forward to the following weekend on wild birds and she got with the program.

And my favorite photo so far.... My boy, Riley

I'd love to give them a try. As far as I know we only have valley, mountain, and bobwhite in Oregon. This is my first time hearing of them.

Great pic's!

Great pictures. Very familiar country. Pretty sure I have seen you all out hunting just south of me. Great photos and great dogs.

Nice dogs and beautiful habitat. Did you kick up any pigs?

We saw plenty of tracks but fortunately the dogs did not kick up any pigs.
