Next year's trip.

Post by BirdDogDesire » Mon Jan 26, 2009 11:22 pm

The guy who usually asks everyone to go to South Dakota called me and told me he would like to see if we all would like to go somewhere else, some place to hunt two or three different game birds, he told me to find some places and get back to him. I was thinking North Dakota or Idaho. Where would you pick and what birds are in the state you picked?? Thanks

Upland hunting only.

Arizona, Montana, Kansas, and Idaho. In no paticular order. Az , Mearn's , gambles, scaled quail. Montana , sharpies, huns, phez. Kansas , bob's, phez, prarie chickens. Idaho , chukar, hun's, phez, sharpies, forest grouse, california quail, sage grouse. Whatever floats your boat. You need to pick the type of birds you want to hunt. And the time of year you want to hunt. Early season Montana is good, later on it gets cold and windy. Idaho can be good as well but it is sometimes hot. You might want to wait until later in the season to go after quail in az , especially because the mearn's season opens later than the gambles and scaled do. I have no idea what the weather is like in Kansas but a little research would be worth it if you are planning a big trip.
