Gunners First Pheasant

Post by Kevin » Thu Sep 29, 2005 2:42 pm

Got out today and managed 1 pheasant after about 4 hours of hunting. Gunner did well considering he's only 9 months old. Due to the cover he was unable to see the bird fall, but I sent him in the general direction with a fetch. I thought mabey the bird was suspended above the ground, stuck in the cover it was so thick. He managed to find it though. Nearly brought a tear to my eye... I'm verclempt...talk amungst yourselves

I don't think you can put into words the feeling you have when you see your dog retrieve that first bird. Between that and the first point you have to feel you are real close to heaven.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.
