Elk!

Post by TAK » Tue Oct 11, 2005 8:57 pm

I know this site is about birddogs but.............. TAK is an odball!

Well out of two tags in camp 1 is filled and mine well....... not yet! Seeing good numbers just not the right antler size. I am looking for a yearling spike bull. I have counted 43 mature big bulls and one that would reach the 380 to 400 mark but I passed on him just to big. I am sure if I would have shot him he would have put me name in some record book some place among the great Elk hunters. But I want to shoot a little young spike!
THe horses have been worked harder than they would like but are getting all the feed they can get down.
Few months ago I bought a new horse a 1/4 horse mare. She did not have a name tell this weekend. Well she has one, first it was not good, then it got worse and then I had to tone it down so the kids could say it without some soap in the mouth. Well it is GIRL DOG. We all know what a girl dog is called in the doggy world! All day Sat I went the rounds with Girl dog, and yes I won! I never enven hit the ground!

Ohh by the way I hunt in Spike only units... so a spike is all I can shoot! Believe me if I could have I would have shot till the barrel was red hot and dropping!

Your one funny guy man. Glad to hear your horse has a name. Could always change it to "Alpo".

That's why I like dogs!

Where have you been hunting?

Well I will be starving this year, I never got the mighty spike! Today was the last day and I went out for an evening hunt. Could not get anything to answer to put a stalk on, and to be honest it would have had to be on a hill above me and be able to roll to the back of the truck!

Rut I was hunting the White River area. Along with half the Salt lake Valley! Orson shot one the 2nd day.

No need to starve, eat some of that Black Gold, my kid doesn't seem to mind shoving it in his mouth  .

Did you see any deer down there?
