off to the grasslands

Post by larue » Fri Sep 18, 2009 7:49 am

Heading out west today to hit some grasslands for grouse,it will be fun.
Taking dogs from 12 plus to under 1 year old, cant wait to let the old guys go in the morning,it does not seem that long ago when max was 2 on our first trip out there.
Good friends, great country, wild birds, who could ask for more in life?

Just returned after 3 days,we had a great time even though we ended up going in a fruit van,(f450 broke down).
Had some real nice bird work, shot plenty of grouse we even had a divided find on a covey between eva and a 10 month old puppy in which we shot 2 of them, eva stayed broke and the pup had a ball.
My old dogs did a nice job, with max at 12 3/4 and blaze at 11 1/2,each had birds and blaze ran like he used to 5 years ago,he was way out there.
We got a chance to play with the garman, and learned a lot about them, and finished the trip with a great steak at the cattlemans steak house,it was good!
