New Years Eve Hunt

Post by Will » Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:04 pm

Thought I would share a few pictures of our day afield on New Years Eve. The dogs worked nice and the kids had a blast. I think they gave new meaning to "run it dry" as we had to return to the truck for shells half way through.

Cash on first find of the day with Rock honoring:

Cash again....Rock with a nice back as the boys go in for the flush:

The last bird of the day...a bonus Chukar. Cash still running hard and finding them as the others back. My boy made a nice one shot clean kill on this zippy little bird.

Cash had a big day, finding the majority of the birds. The pup Rock who just turned 8mo old had 3 finds on his own and recovered a cripple that the two older dogs couldn't find. My buddy's setter hasn't had a lot of work this year and tired out a bit early, but managed a couple of finds as well.

Thanks all. I have come to love the honor/back as much as the point with my boys. Both were natural backers...I wish I could say I trained it but I'll take natural over trained any day. I especially like to see the older dog backing the puppy!! I gotta get some pics of that as it doesn't happen quite as often as he doesn't get as many finds.....yet.
