Finally a good hunt in kansas

Post by RBraddy » Sat Jan 09, 2010 11:05 am

We went to Kansas over the new year holiday. Started out in Fort Riley and found one very small covey. They had quite a bit of snow and it was hard walking and hard for the dogs to get around in it so the next morning we left and went west. Once we got southwest of salina we ran out of snow. Once we got to our 2nd destination we stated getting in to quail. And all the coveys we large, 20+ birds in most of them. We took 7 pointers and 3 shorthairs. Every dog that we had got some really nice bird work. We were lucky enough to bag 38 quail in 3 days. We were unable to recover 2 quail and 1 pheasant.
