Only a week to go until the trip to Georgia for a quail hunt...I am starting to get pumped.

Going to be a long ride from Da U.P. but it will be nice to be in a different climate for awhile.

If it ever dries out...I can only get usually on a sunday and for the last 3 or 4 weekends its been bad weather....I haven't even been one time in GA this year....just been a crazy year with work and weather. What part are you going to down around albany? plantation, private, public land?

 WITH TONGUE FIRMLY PLANTED IN CHEEK, AS A FORMER GA RESIDENT I PRESENT THE FOLLOWING:

- Boiled peanuts, grits, b'kuts & gravy, and chicken fried steak are revered state dishes in GA. Be prepared.

- Listen carefully. Practice your linguistic skills by watching re-runs of King of the Hill to see if you can understand Boomhauer. Different accent, same principle.

- Do not be offended when they call you a Yankee. Even though we are originally Canadian, ANYONE from north of the Mason Dixon line is labeled the same.

- Be aware of cultural temperature differences. Do not wear shorts & a T-shirt & pronounce the weather "Springlike" when the native Georgians are wearing long pants, flannel shirts, and puffy vests.

All kidding aside, enjoy yourself. I hope the weather co-operates. It's been unseasonably wet down in here in the Southeast, so pack accordingly.

Heading to Pope Plantation in Washington, GA...I won a contest on the net for a free hunt and stay there...also spending time in Canton with my brother-in-law.

I'll try not to pack shorts :)

The weather might not be much different from what you have been having at home. We just got Three inches of snow today with more in the forecast.
