That is great. Do they really taste like steak? I have heard beefy tasting. Never tried it. They are very cool birds. I did see them a few years back in KA, Acutally heard them first then saw them flying then found them. I watched them for hours.
Funny thing not two years ago, I saw a Sandhill fly over my house. Actually heard it first and thought no way must be a crow or raven. then not a minute later it was directly over my house sun lighting it up like a photo.
Yep a Sandhill Crane in Maine.

Rick , we have been wintering a few sandhills on the Delmarva in recent years....seems they might be expanding their breeding grounds up north and coming down the Atlantic flyway....

You see thousands & thousands of the birds in ND during the fall. One caution with a wounded one is their beak is a formidible weapon & they can inflict damage on a dog including putting an eye out.
