Hello people smarter than me,
I have hunted primarily by myself (except for the dog too) this year with no success. For those of you that do the same thing but get results, what are some strategies that help you get birds. There's not a lot of birds here in missouri but I'd like to at least get a taste of them on my dinner plate once. Thanks for the responses
Ross

Boy that's a good looking dog in your avatar!
I would guess that your either hunting where there are no birds or just haven't found them yet. Birds around here are few and far between. Had to make a 6hr trip to get my dog's into wild birds this year. I did take then to a preserve, found it was actually a bit cheaper than driving 6hrs one way to hunt and guarenteed birds! Gonna do another preserve hunt next Sat and probably one more this year with a couple brother's that don't have dogs. Next spring I'm putting in 100 ea Bobwhite and Chukar chick's. May be losy bird hunting but I'll at least have some for my dog's to hunt whenever I want. Oregon's birds have been down for severalm years now. But there are pockets here and there.

Keep the dog into the wind and let him do all the work.

You're not helping us out very much. We need a little more to go on. How about describing where you went, what game you were after and a little about how you hunted?

More info might help. I usually hunt alone with two dogs down and we're getting into birds. Covering more ground than we did a few years ago but it's been better than last year. I will say we've found birds in areas I wouldn't think they would be and other areas I thought would have them we found nothing.
