8 year old's first hunt

Post by outdrguyjr » Sun Jan 02, 2011 8:07 am

Ever since we picked up our Brittany pup from Gittrdonebritts last summer my middle daughter has been begging me to go hunting with her. I made her a promise that once she turned 8 she could come with us...well her birthday was December 23rd, and so a week later we went to our local hunting club and spent the morning out in the cold. She carried her Red Rider BB gun and was more than ready to "harvest" some pheasants. We knocked down 4 and she is convinced that two were totally because of her. :D . I was so proud of her as she showed a respect for her gun, her fellow hunter (me) and the dog. It was a day I will never forget!!

Even better it is a day SHE will never forget! Nothing like having a Daddy's girl along, and it will pay off during those "fun" teen years that will be here way too soon.

I loved reading this! I'm 46 and it brought back memories of walking behind my dad on hunts first with toy gun in hand, to the BB gun, to the .410 and to the .20 ga pump! You have built memories for you and her that will last a life time! Congrats!

Great to see. Wonderful memories.
Speak kindly to me, beloved master. Revel in my unconditional love, and give me every minute that you can spare, for my time with you is short.
