Woodies

Season ended well here. Finished in a flooded filbert orchard that the wood ducks seem to like:

Woddies are the best we only have like a 1-2 week window to take them in Illinois they "duck" out long before it gets cold here.

They are my favorite eating duck. They are resident here and the numbers have been going up every year thanks to folks putting up nest boxes, so I hear.

Longarm, I sure love it when I get one. If you are not mounting your birds I sure hope you're saving the lemon yellow flank feathers for your fly tying buddies.

They are a blast (pun intended) to hunt in Alabama too. I've waisted a lot of shells over the years shooting at those fast little boogers. Neat hunting spot!

We do a lot of woodduck hunting here too. That spot looks great. Where were the pictures taken?
