Can anyone recommend a chest protector/vest/skid plate for a vizsla or similar pointer that doesn't rub their chest/armpits raw? Especially a cold weather style? I assume a fleece lining on the inside would help, but I'm new to this product. any help is appreciated.

Where are you going to hunt the dog and what type of cover... the hair on the dogs underside should be more course which will protect them in most terrain.

We use the Cabela's skid plate during the summer and the Cabela's neoprene in winter. We just cut to fit the neoprene vest and it works great now that he has grown up.The skidplate we had to up the size to large for the chest.

Thanks 1vizsla. Just curious, how big is your dog and what size vests did you use. my girl is almost fully grown at 9 months and 47 lbs, just prepping for the fall season.

I ended up getting the size M Cabela's ripstop vest. She tested it once for about a half hour and didn't have any raw spots. It seems like it has excess fabric in some spots but I tightened it up snug and no problems that I could see. Thanks for the link Birddog. I actually found those online before and will think about that one for a winter vest. I want to get a warmer one with fleece or something for colder weather.
