Today we got back on them

Post by Troy08er » Mon Oct 17, 2011 2:24 pm

Today we started out with only my Gator dog. My friends dog was in heat and other friend hasn't pulled the trigger on getting one. We seen a really big covey of about 150 quail. I told them to but the chase on and I'll follow back 300-400 yards do to my blisters from the opener. We were hunting some really thick stuff so I knew the birds would be holding. While the were pushing them I reeled Gator's range back into 50-100 yard range and cleaned house on the holders.Wish I would of taking the camera in the field had about 20 awesome points and was hitting about 50 percent of my birds. Still bad but better than the opener. After the hunt we all limited out and my friends that doesn't have a dog tells me,see more ways to skin a cat. I say ya but you don't get that shock and awe.

Troy gets on so many birds he hasn't got to his spot yet. He is a quail and chukar finding machine. His seasons are always epic.

I'm gonna have to look for him as I'm probably hunting in his backyard.

Watch out... I heard he carries a few boxes of nails to drop on the road when he thinks others are following him.... run flats are a good idea. Lol.

All I'm thinking is 3 more weeks till I'm out there picking up my dog.

Hope in 3 weeks it cools down and we'll hit the chukar. My neighbor and his group did great on the opener and almost limited out. Still to hot for running a dog.

You guys are getting it done. I guess the forecast was right when they said it will be a season you will be talking about for a long time.

Boy those pictures bring back memories. When I lived in Winnemucca I used to love to hunt those valley quail as much as chukars.
