Hope you like the pictures.

Awesome pics! I've never hunted Chukar, but i want to hunt them more than ANY upland species out there.

Btw is that a yildiz O/U? No matter the brand its a good looking shotgun. Beautiful GSP's aswell.

Thank you for stoking my Chukar fire this morning! (nice elk shed too)

The legs are tasty but are a little stringy. Just have to chew a little more.

Hi GUNDOGS,
share any pictures you have of birds and pups. I really like the one of your put and the coon.

Hi JWP58,
Yes that is a yildiz 20 gauge youth model with 26 inch barrels. Let me know when you want to come and chase chukars.

Hi Escopeton,
Does your avatar name mean big shotgun. That has to be one of the best chukar pictures ever. The crock pot does wanders for the tough legs. They come up so tender and just fall of the bone.

Hi DonF,
We hunt hard and leg burn hill gets you beat up and tired.

Hi Dave C
yes I think my girls are pretty.

Hi Dirtysteve,
you are one of mine kind. It takes a special kind of hunter to climb all over leg burn hill and get excited about bird poop. Yes you do have me beat with the snow trail.

Hi Vonzeppelinkennels,
After doing all the hiking your brain gets deprive of oxygen and you get a little light headed and them you find chukar poop exciting. Not just any bird poop will do. It have to be chukar poop.

Hi Willie Hunter,
You guys must be in top shape. what kind of pups do you have.

Thank you all for sharing you pictures and thoughts.

I couldn't have said it better. Nothing like a pile of steamin fresh ones to get you excited. You know then it's only a matter of time

Escopeton,

Do you pluck your birds and leave the skin on? How do you do that? (ie - wet pluck or dry pluck)? And is it worth it? Looks like a lot of work! Nice photos by the way!
Thanks,
Al

I pluck my birds after aging them in the fridge for about four days. After aging, the feather are easy to pluck. I do the same for pheasants, grouse and quail. Before cooking/grilling, I either brine the birds or in a wet marinade.

No problems with shot in the meat? It seems like that could be a big issue.

Willie,

I try to give the birds a good looking at before I freeze or cook. Sometimes the shot can be felt or pushed out of the meat. I do a lot of butterflying the birds and I have breasted many times.
