Late Season Pheasants in N. CO

Post by bb560m » Thu Jan 26, 2012 4:11 pm

Anyone had success anywhere. Going to hit up Haxtun tomorrow and see if we can't get anything before the season ends. Dog needs to run too and get into better shape after missing a few weeks with stitches in legs (barbed wire).

Where have you had success & what type of fields? Weather should be crappy tonight so I'm hoping they'll be in thick cover instead of giant milo or cut corn fields where you have to walk 500 miles to see 1 rooster.

Any tips appreciated!

I haven't heard anything but I live in Southern, Wyoming....If you do get into any I would appreciate a report back. I definitely wouldn't say no to a late season pheasant hunt close to home!

Saw about 12 pheasants yesterday. Hunted in between Haxtun and Holyoke, both N. & S. of the 6. Also got into 2 patches of quail, about 8-10 quails total. Nothing killed though - mosty hens that my dog popped up way too far away.

One of my buddies just took a trip to Northern Colorado and said he saw well over 100 pheasants in 2 days. Is the season still open? I can ask him where he went for you if you would like ???

Please call him & let me know :). The season is closed for most of the public land, but there are still a few fields open until March or so. Any help appreciated.
