It's not the home of the pheasant- enjoy chukars and grouse though.

Your search for birds will not be a wild goose chase. I like the variety.

Making the move for a job?

There is some great bird hunting, but it is very different than midwest pheasant/grouse/hun hunting. Mountain grouse are seldom hunted, but can be great fun with a good pointing dog. Look for areas with wet springs and aspen, you will start to recognize good habitat after awhile. Expect to put in the miles and time climbing mountains to find birds, densities are pretty low.

Chukar are awesome birds, expect to do lots climbing, only to see the birds flush out of range! I think chukars are by far the most challenging birds to hunt. They live in some demanding country, and you cannot just show up and pay a farmer to access the best habitat. Wild chukars are earned, and are that much more rewarding.

Boy if that isn't true though it's easier thaN finding land to pheasant hunt.
Sure love my Pudel Pointer for just about everything. Maybe not a big ranger but everything else he certainly earns his keep.

I would talk with Elkhunter on this forum. Sure he could point you in the right direction on EP's in Utah.
