Hunting on foot and GPS/beeper
For those of you that don't have field trial, big running dogs, do you still use a GPS or beeper collar? On one hand I don't want to buy a $600 GPS setup. On the other hand loosing my dog over $600 would be stupid. I'm just not sure how necissary it is hunting smaller tracts of land on foot.

Re: Hunting on foot and GPS/beeper
I never used a GPS before I started trialing. If your dog has good recall (here, come) a good beeper (and e-collar) would be enough. That being said, there is nothing that replaces the security of a GPS, AND it can double as a beeper on point mode. The GPS will tell you when the dog is standing. The GPS is quieter tooScoutB wrote:For those of you that don't have field trial, big running dogs, do you still use a GPS or beeper collar? On one hand I don't want to buy a $600 GPS setup.
