That's great hettmoe. It's hard when they grow old, as you and the dog still want to go full speed. Last year I overdid it a bit with my 12 year old female as she was a bit stiff and sore the next day on several occasions. I have to take it easy on her in her 13th season this year. Best of luck to you.
You could live without a dog, but it would not be worthwhile.

Very cool. Good lookin' girl! The collar with the pink ribbon is a good idea.

That's great! I have one that will be 10 1/2 this season and he is still going strong. I believe he can go longer than I can.

Awesome, its great to hear that there are a couple of dogs in this thread there are 10-13 and still in good enough shape to be out there hunting. You should be proud of your dog as well as yourself for taking such good care of them so they could still be out in the fields this long!

Great to see the ole girl working:

My GSP Mercy is on her 12th. She will not be making the trip to camp this year for our 10 days, to far from a vet, but will be making multiple day trips. She has two vertabra in her back that are arthritic and she gets pretty lamed up and also makes it hard for her to get overstuff. I am going to miss her. I am actually getting a little choked up as I write this.

Enjoy every moment.

Great photos, gotta love old dogs, looking at their gray muzzles brings back the memories of all the great times we had with them. Enjoy her.

Those pictures are fantastic! That one with the gray sky should be a holiday postcard! I've always had a soft spot for the old gray faced dogs!... thanks for sharing! 8)

That's great to see. Reminds me of my old black Lab, Deacon. This will be my first pheasant season without him in 12 years.

Those are great pictures. What a treasure she is. Our older girl is 10 this year, and is slowing down a little, but can still go for about 45 mins. or so before we stop her. We put her out in the easy stuff and let the youngsters to the bushwhacking. Enjoy every day, you never know how many are left.
