My dog won't retreive a downed pheasant

I have a black lab(female) that is almost 2 and I recently took her to a pheasant ranch so I could get her on some birds. I had only trained her on scent with a dowken dead pheasant and a dummy covered in pheasant feathers. She finds them evergreen time and brings them back! But when we shot birds over over she wanted no part of a wounded or dead bird! She did pretty well searching and flushing them as rookie dog! I am a rookie too so I don't know how to approach this problem?

Where are you located? Seems like your dog will need to be force fetched. Maybe a good pro can help.

She needs to be force fetched. I am a firm believer that every retriever should be force fetched. It teaches so much more than just a good delivery to hand. You will find that she will be much more confident after being force fetched.
