All porcupines must die.

Post by yogi » Sat Nov 10, 2012 3:34 pm

Porcupine ruined a great day to hunt 40degrees, no rain or snow, 8 flushes by 10:00am. Then I had to leave. My dog got a face full of quills. I found a great vet and had them out in 45min. I wanted to go back but my dog was put to sleep and after, he could barely walk out the vet's door. All porcupines must die.

Or just break the dog off them.....

I agree I shot 2 porcupines today and my dogs didn't get near them.posting.php?mode=reply&f=81&t=38669# Both were in holes under uprooted trees just happen to look in and see them. With it being 64 degrees today they were out and about. I have had several dogs tangle with porkies over the years and never had to take them to a vet. I carry a leatherman with me. The last time it took me 35 minutes and I had help holding her down. Did manage to shoot 2 grouse but hunted all day and they were the only shots I got.

If you need brain surgery you don't go to a General Practicioner.......... I used to encounter porcis all the time until I hunted over Pointers, Britts and Setters. Only seen 1 in the last 2 years (over a shorthair) used to be 1 a week!!!!
