Quick grouse hunt.

Post by 12 Volt Man » Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:52 pm

Critter Control and I headed up for a quick hunt this afternoon. We tried a couple spots that were unproductive. Then I dropped Caleb and Cowboy off at the top of a ridge and drove down to the bottom to pick them up. They flushed two and Caleb was able to shoot one. A nice mature male Blue.

I usually take these with a 22-250, but apparantly 6 shot works too.

hey 12 volt would it be too much to ask for the tail of that blue you took I am using the tails of several game birds for a science class and do not have a blue-and would have to travel hundreds of miles to get one now that I am here in NE. thanks even if you can't send one. ps I trade ya a prairie chicken butt for a blue one!

cool 12 you guys have more in the bag than I have even seen. Maybe I will get some this weekend.

Thorson,

I have a tail from last year that I saved. If you want it I will send it too you. It is just the main tail feathers but all are intact and look nice the last time I seen them. I will be gone for most of this week leaving in the AM to go Elk hunting with Dad (he needs a mule. Mule=me  ) But can send it out after I return and find them. Unless 12 or CC kept theirs than that might be better but consider mine plan B. Aslo I have some Chukar in the freezer that I could salvage tails from. FWIW
