Get maps of BLM, Forest Service and IDF&G lands. They should be your first start. BLM lands will provide sage, sharptail, chukar, hun, quail and some pheasant opportunities. FS will provide forest grouse. Then go to the F&G website and look at Access Yes lands. Then there is also knocking on doors and asking permission.

BLM has special maps that will show land ownership.

I think I'd start here
http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/public/hunt/
There's a lot of information there. But it's not as easy to use as some other states that provide GPS downloadable overlay data so you can see where public access land is. Still, it's worth poking around there first, then I'd call a DFG office in the area I wanted to hunt and talk to them.

I wouldn't come to Idaho, no birds here, the ones that are here are runted and can't fly, nope not worth the trip.........

Lots of land for chukar and grouse, but good pheasant land is a little harder to come by.
