ammo carry amount??
ammo carry amount??
I heard that in some states when you are hunting you are only allowed to carry so much ammo on your person when afield.
Is this true where you live?
I need to look it up for my state and other states I hunt in. Sometimes I go in like an arsenal, especially on new unexplored places I always keep 10 or 15 on the side rounds for if I get hurt, lost whatever to signal SOS in three round intervals.
Is there any truth to this?

Re: ammo carry amount??
never heard of this in Idaho. If I'm hunting pheasants I carry about 10 shells, if I'm hunting quail or huns I load up my pockets. LOL
Re: ammo carry amount??
The ammo limit is sometimes regulated on government lands. Most of them for hunting water foul.

No...never heard that, for any location.
Seems odd.
I like 8 or so shells total.

None here in MN that I know of except while hunting out of a State refuge blind, then I believe it is 6.
Re: ammo carry amount??
I have only seen this with water fowl. It is suppose to help people to pass up the 80-100 yd "shots" and encourage closer higher percentage shots. Nothin worse than having someone taking 80 yd shots on birds working your decoys. Limit is usually 6 -25 shells depending on duck or geese.

Thanks,
I looked it up aswell and it looks like your all right its for waterfowl. Found out some other newer laws in the process aswell.
Man wish they would just leave well enough alone..

Re: ammo carry amount??
when everytime I go out for a hunt my Marine Corps training kicks in and I soon find myself with enough amo to get me through a good fire fight, at least I've stopped double tapping the birds
Re: ammo carry amount??
No rules like that in Ohio. I don't carry much when hunting phez, rabbit or even quail, but I will carry boxes for dove. Limit is 15 a day and I throw out a lot of lead for those little birds.
Re: ammo carry amount??
No rules in Wyoming. I carry two boxes in my pack....better to have and not need than need and not have!
