5 different species in one day

Post by omega58 » Thu Oct 26, 2006 7:08 am

Well, I am not sure how often it happens in the same county, but my buddy had a day to remember on Saturday. We started out the morning waterfowl hunting, then switched over for a chance at some roosters, and then drove down the road for a little grouse/woodcock hunting. As three of us missed the grouse going over the treetops and then he made an incredible shot, it hit me. . .he just bagged a duck/goose/pheasant/woodcock/and grouse all in the same day!!

Congrats!!

Here's a couple pics from Friday afternoon, I met my dad for his first grouse/woodcock hunt in a while, his time was limited as he had to get to the football game, but we had some fun out there.

Then Sky and I went over to hopefully get on some pheasants or jump shoot some ducks, she did great, and if I didn't have my gun jam, I might have had two roosters, but I was very happy with the way Sky handled them.

We had a very good weekend hunting, ate very well, I had my first empty feeling in the waders where the muck had not bottom and the cold water rushes in.:help: one guy shot a banded goose, another had some great shots on ducks, my dad shot his first woodcock in 15 years or so with my new 20 gauge, some great dog work on both upland/waterfowl, my first dud shell, had some great laughs with each other, and did I mention we ate good?

Here's the Saturday tailgate pic, minus a couple of ducks

What a display! And each bird has it's own beauty, too.

Nice . . .

That is an impressive day! I got to thinking about it and I have shot quail, pheasant, sharptail and prairie chickens on the same day, but to get pheasant, ruffs and woodcock on the same day as duck and geese, is pretty cool. :D
