New Mexico Quail

Post by CowboyBirdDogs » Thu Nov 28, 2013 10:03 pm

I'm looking into doing a public land New Mexico quail hunt for blue quail. I'd love to get into some mearns or gambels given the opportunity. Anybody know where to go or have any suggestions at all? I'm looking at the Carlsbad area.

That area is mostly blues, may get lucky and find some bobs, gambles would be in the river valley. No mearns there need to be in the lincoln for those.

Thanks for the help! How is the population looking this year? I'd be happy with 3-4 coveys a day. How much further would I have to go to be able to find mearns?
