What is too much money?

How much energy do you want in a dog?

How much time do you have to take it out a day?

What size of dog is ideal for you?

Black Mouth Cur...the original Old Yeller.
But nothing would beat a beagle for rabbits....one size fits all seldom is the best route to take.

This sounds like a behavior that was allowed. What makes you think the next dog won't do the same thing if allowed to? You need to get that behavior under control instead of letting it be the next guys problem. I can see this poor dog going from home to home until it finally ends up in the pound.

Dad looks like a wire hair. Mom's picture is too far away & not clear enough to tell if she is a wire or a gsp. Either way I bet they find birds :D Good luck with the pup.

I think you heard them wrong, those look like German wirehair pointers not GSP. So how much research did you do on breeds before you picked one out?

This is something about the breed you need to know:
"Children should be taught how to display proper leadership skills . If this dog does not see humans as above it in the pecking order it will become dominating and pushy and may try to dominate other animals."

Sounds like you are going to have to train your wife and this dog better than the last one or you will have the same problem.

I sone a LOT of resurch on these dogs and yea they are wirehare which is better for my case couse they were bred for dirtier and tougher hunting so im happy with that and also the mom and dad were awesome with the small kid that were there and verry sweet so maby he will be the same, all in all i think i now have the best choice hunting dog for me

Ok... So you still have to train them better than your previous dog is what I'm trying to say.

No matter what breed it is any dog can have behavioral problems like you last dog did without the proper training. Your wife needs to let the dog she is in charge not the other way around.

They looked crossed to me. I doubt they are pure GSP's for $50. Ask if the breeder has a woodpile. :D

Probably a cross-bred pup, I sure wouldn't waste any money on a DNA test - they are totally unreliable and a waste of money.

Mg

If the man wants two pups that's his business and his money.
Why don't you show a little support to a new guy in the bird dog world .

We need more hunters and we need more bird dog people
To keep the tradition alive!

Van Becker, enjoy your pups & good luck!

Don't get me wrong, I hope he does well with his new pups however he already gave away his previous dog because of the lack of dog knowledge and lack obedience training. It bothers me because 1 dog is work, 2 dogs can be a pain in the butt especially when you don't know what you are doing. These dogs will end up like the last one. I think he should stick with one dog and concentrate on it.

Ps
I'm not trying to sound like an a-hole, it just sounds like I am.

I'm getting rid of the first pup because I want a registered gsp and I got a really good deal on one and I get it in 4 weeks and I now own gsp books and training books and DVDs so I'm ready for the training process but I'd still like help from you guys if I could get it! I just got off on a rocky start finding what I wanted is all and all so an update on my previous dog, she is doing really well where she is now and progressing very well, she just needed a place with other coon dogs is all and there aren't many of those here so I'm happy with my decision and as for this pup I think someone wants him for a family dog (which he is really good at) so it all works out and I'm getting the dog I wanted all along (just couldn't afford it to start with) so all is well here :)

Excellent. Good to hear. I'm sorry I came off rude. Good luck training the dog. It's really fun and rewarding. Just remember that you and your wife are the leaders of the pack, not the dog. Keep us updated on how you are the dog are doing on training
