Question for Hunters

Post by woodsway » Sat Nov 01, 2014 11:39 am

Have close to 600 acres in IL with a lot of Wild Roosters...What is a fair price out there to charge a gun to hunt the land for a day 2 Wild Cocks allowed, then we can put pen raised birds if people want them at a extra charge for each pen raised bird.. Thanks for and suggestions

600 huntable acres of good habitat or 600 total acres?...and how many hunters allowed per day?
Pheasants will not spontaneously regenerate post successful pressure.
So, price will depend upon a peck more than acres or the phrase "lot of 'wild' roosters".
But...$10, maybe $20...depending.

Where I hunt in N.D. the farmers after harvest charge 150.00 a day per gun. I do not know how much acerage that gives access to. As property owners we do not own the wildlife on it , they are considered a public trust. The states mandate the hunting reg. i.e. limits and possession. If a person starts to put out pen raised and charging for the birds now it is becoming a commercial enterprise (game farm) best to check your state statutes for the regulations.

In MN if you allow hunters to hunt on your property (no charge) they assume liability, if you charge them to hunt the liability falls on the owner and insurance would be wise.
