The bird is about as big as the dog :D I'm sure he'll have a lot more birds in his life :!:

Is Nitro an American Cocker? He has the looks but that couldn't possibly be true considering all the hunt mostly being bred out of them. Pheasants and flushers make a great combo

Nitro's first pheasant

He is an American cocker. The hunt surely has not been bred out of this one. He had never even sniffed a pheasant until week one of this years season and by our fourth outing he was sniffing out and flushing birds. I've been super impressed so far. I've never trained a dog before so I know that I'm making mistakes. Dog doesn't seem to mind though.

I think the "hunting bred out of them" is an old story that is way over stated with all dogs. There are some, where it has been depressed but in most cases, given the opportunity, it resurfaces rather quickly and easily. The end result may be different than you were hoping for but at least it is still there and trainable.

It's not how many breaths you have taken but how many times it has been taken away!

Has anyone noticed common sense isn't very common anymore.
