Millie's first quail hunt

Took my GSP, Millie on her first quail hunt yesterday. She did a great job pointing and an even better job finding downed birds in the tall grass.

It was a blast. I'm very proud of how well she did. She even retrieved one that fell in the pond.

These were all released birds. We have a lot of wild birds on the place, but we're trying to let the population grow some more before hunting them.

Considering how short the life span of quail are, not sure I would wait . They might be gone by the time you hunt them. Also it's been proven the numbers that hunters take have little effect on bird population.

Millie is the name I tried to get my family to agree to for our Brittany pup when we got her last year. nice looking GSP!
