The state stocks Pheasant's within 15 min's of my house. I typically don't bother the Phez until after the deer season in late Dec. I like to give the local folks who have always looked forward to hunting them the first crack at them. I love the w/c & grouse. Max feels the same way. Max does give me the look when a phez gets up early season and I don't shoot. The look he gives me is one of " I just gave you a meatball what are you doing? "

Greg, SE Idaho has most of yours, plus sharptail and sage grouse, a short drive and you have them all plus moose, wolves and mountain goats.

Really need to spend some time in Idaho.

As far as upland bird hunting goes here in NC the heyday of gentlemen Bob is long gone. Coveys of quail are few and far between, almost none. Would love to see the days I grew up hearing about from my grandfather. Still can find some woodcock and snipe the right time of year. Definitely not a shortage of deer, dove, rabbits, and any predator that eats an quail.

SE Iowa has phez, quail, dove, waterfowl, Eastern turkey, whitetail deer, small game (squirrel, rabbit, etc.) and a multitude of fur-bearers for those who like to trap.

Yep. Stocked, but we do get to hunt them. Pheasant, Chukar, Huns and quail are all stocked. 3 hours north we have grouse, snowshoe, black bear and moose as well.

You can hunt dove in RI?!

I've moved from ND to Washington and then to Massachusetts this summer. I was all excited about dove opener until I found that there is no dove season here.

Sure can! 15 per day. But good luck finding them anywhere other than the city or private property. They are around but you need to cover a lot of ground to get them. So far I have about 15 for the season but they are fun to hunt. This is not your typical fly bye type of hunting. I find them deep in the pines and oaks.
