My 14 month old Boykin retrieved a few pheasants and a handful of quail last year but he met his first dove this weekend. 22 of the to be exact. He did great.

I've only seen one Boykin in the field out here in Idaho. The little guy was like the Ever ready Bunny, he just kept moving all the time. They seem to be a great dog for most of our terrain and waters. Their range for a walking hunter seems to be perfect and they definitely cover ground. My only concern with them out here would be cheatgrass in their ears and retrieving waterfowl out of big water, i.e. moving rivers, in the winter.

So far it has been the perfect breed for me. I'm excited to see how he does with waterfowl this fall.

Good lookin dog, I also have a Boykin but he's only about 5 months. He'll retrieve birds but still has a lot of learning to do
