... because it’s April and the pup and I already can’t wait for the fall.

Are those sage grouse? We don't have them here.

Those are sharp tails in northern Montana. Over the course of the season we hunted blue grouse, ruffed grouse, sharp-tailed grouse, California quail, mountain quail, scaled quail, chukars, huns, pheasants, and assorted waterfowl in Oregon, Idaho, Montana, California, and New Mexico.

Goft20,

I have hunted the same birds in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Arizona over the past 8 years. Usually driving 10,000 miles each year.

Wave as you go by.

Looks like you and your pup had a great year. That's some nice country. And no you're not alone. September can't come soon enough.

Nice! Beautiful shotgun. What is it? That little lever on the left side should give it away but can't remember! What gauge is it?
I pity the man that has never been loved by a dog!

Great pictures. I recognize the eastern Sierra. Only been in Chukars in those numbers once in my life but the country was straight up and down.

Sure is! And it looks like an awfully nice gun be carrying over hilly rough semi-mountainous terrain.

My first thought is that it's a 16g or 20g AYA #2. But the wood is nicer than most of those I've seen or owned. But I'm sticking with it being a Spanish clone of the Holland & Holland sidelock. The little lever is a "hand detachable" pin or screw. Basically, a screw with the lever on it, so you can remove the lockplates without tools to service the locks.

Glad you liked the pictures. Good call on the Spanish origins of the shotgun. It is an Armas Garbi 20ga. It is one of their lower model guns. I bought it used in almost new condition with the stock being on of the drawing factors. It’s nice and upsetting when I put a mark on it, but I bought it to be used hopefully for the next 50 years of my life. Figured 50 years of use was the only way I could justify spending so much money.
