Hunting the Pittsburg, NH area

Hi all. Planning a diy trip to the Pittsburg area this fall for the first time. Looking for any input on the grouse situation. Easy to find hunting access? Are the roads on the map traversible? I spoke to a friendly gentlemen from one of the lodges in the area who informed me that anyone can hunt unposted land in NH. What is the reality of that situation?? Any info would be appreciated.
