Utah Grouse and upland birds
I have been looking for grouse hunting in Utah on public land. I was on Utahs division of wildlife website and could not find the season dates, so if any one of you utah guys know let me know. Also is there any public hunting for them within an hour of Park City? If not are there any other upland speces open in dec. 23-1st of jan.?

Lot's of good grouse hunting opportunities close to park city. If you head east (plan on driving between35 min to 50 min)there is lot's of public land available with plenty of grouse on it. There are a few isolated spots that you can still hunt closer to home, but you really have to be carefull, as the ski resorts and developers are buying up everything and sometimes it isn't marked real clearly what area's are private and what is public. If you go over the mountain and start coming down the other side (big cottonwood canyon) you get into a watershed and there is a hefty fine for having a dog there! Yes even in your truck. It's too much of a headache for me real close to park city so I would recommend that you head east and take advantage of all the public land out there. That is for next season. The closest chukar hunting to you is just outside of an hour, so if you got an itch there are still a few birds left in the desert.
