Help me ID this citori

Post by BCA1228 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 1:21 pm

Can someone identify which citori this is by looking at these pics. It is described as a "featherlight." Does Browning make one by that name? I've heard of a "super light feather." Is that what this one is? Also, any thoughts on the value would be appreciated. It is used, but I'm unsure of the age. Has invector chokes and 26" barrells.

I have the same gun in 20 Ga., 26" barrels, fixed chokes. It is my go-to grouse gun.

The superlight feather has a different alloy for the receiver and invector chokes.

It looks like your gun has nicer wood than mine.

I'm thinking about buying it. What would you say it's worth? I know its hard to tell without seeing it, but maybe someone could give me a range.

If I can take it home for $1,000, does that sound like a deal?

Howie,

With my limited knowledge of the Browning nomenclature, the gun shown I believe is the pre '87 Superlight with fixed chokes chambered for 3" shells.

Browning's current offering is the "Citori Superlight Feather" chambered for 2 3/4" with invector chokes.

I paid $700 for mine and the gentleman was kind enough to throw in 10 boxes of copper coated sixes.

What gauge is the gun, the length of barrels and how does it fit?

BCA,

After rereading your post, check the barrels for the reccomended shell size. This may be a later transition gun - Superlight with invector chokes. I'm just wondering how it is chambered, 2 3/4" or 3". 3" shells provide quite a kick with the straight stock and the gun's light weight.

If the gun has been cared for with light use, the number you have been quoted is reasonable. I have paid that price for other used Citoris I own.

However, in this economy.........

I also have it in 28 ga.. I bought mine in 1984, & paid $700.00 for it. It has fixed chokes & 26" barrels. It was called a superlite. It's my favorite upland gun, & I've never had a problem with it. $1000.00 sounds good if it's in good shape.
