No, but have heard of others speak of Bud's Guns with no problems to report. What are you looking at for that money...Stoger?

remington spartan spr310. I went ahead and ordered it yesterday. It was $323 shipped with insurance and I have to pay my ffl. Still plenty cheap I think.

I will let you know, but I have been using a buddy's Baikal gun which is the same gun only that remington imports them now. It's nothing fancy but I dont want a high dollar gun that I wil be mad it I scratch it or have to lay it on the ground. I alao looked at the stoeger and the cheap model dont have the selective barrel or auto shell ejectors.

This is funny, I've been looking at the same gun on the same website.
The only catch is that they can't ship the gun directly to you.
They have to ship it to a local dealer in your area, and then your local dealer can transfer the gun to you.
I asked the local dealer in my area and they said that they would charge me $125 for this transaction. :(
This brings the price of the gun up to $450 (which is retail).
Not sure if this only applies to California but its a real bummer.

I picked up a used 20 ga 310S about a month or so ago. It's one solid gun. The best place to get choke tubes for it is direct from Carlson's, I bought the skeet and IC tubes and they came with a free wrench and storage box. They shipped via USPS - I ordered on a Monday and I had them on Thursday.

The only criticism I have is that the ejector springs are way too powerful. Of course, if you're shooting clays and want to throw the empties into the back of the truck without moving it from the parking lot, you might like the heavy ejector springs. Also the hammer springs are also very strong, which means the gun likes to stay just off fully open so the shell in the lower chamber doesn't clear the receiver unless you push the gun to full open. These are minor points, and are are something a do-it-yourself-er can fix if they are comfortable with working on a gun, or a gunsmith certainly can if they're not.

Overall, I like it (well, the clay bird engraving on the receiver is kinda cheesy too), and I think you'll like your new gun too!

Boonz28, I would check around with other FFL. I paid $15 for the transfer, You can also check FFL in your area on the website. I let you know how it looks when it shows up.

56-26,
Thanks for the advice, I looked on that website and found a dealer in my area that would make the transaction for $10!
That'll save me $90 :D
Keep us posted on how you like the gun and your overall experience with Buds.

Thanks Again

For a transfer fee? What a rip. I would look for a different shop and tell them you know what they can do with the 125. That is what you call highway robbery. You are talking about 5 minutes of paperwork....if that.

Its a small world on this forum, I too was looking at Bud's Guns on gunbroker.com at the SPR 310. I however will probably have to wait until January from impending circumstances (just bought an e-collar and have Christmas coming).

Glad to hear they're pretty solid.

You guys think Bud's will keep listing these for dirt cheap? Only been watching them for a few weeks but another month feels like pushing it.

P.S. YES check on other FFL's. Some of your local gun shop owners are great guys but have nasty transfer fees. The guy I'm looking at does it for $10 as opposed to another shop on the other side of town for $45

Forget it

I dont know how long they will keep that price. As far as that goes I dont know how they are as cheap as the are. I will be in this gun for $298 after the rebate. I was looking at guns over the weekend and one place was wanting more that that for a used one.

Cosmoline?

Kerosene or diesel fuel takes it off, as does WD-40, Goo-Gone, Carb Cleaner, Brake Cleaner, etc. etc. Aggressive solvents such as are found in brake cleaner will dissolve plastics, so I would advise extreme caution when using solvents such as those on anything other than metal parts. A non-toxic alternative is steam.

Cosmoline, thats what I was talking about. I cleaned on it for hours last night. The blueing isn't so great in a few places and it had some rust on it in a few places but it all came off. Of course I was hoping for it to be perfect, but for a $300 over and under what do you expect. I had a few guys stop by to look at it and they didn't even see what I was picking on until I pointed it out to them. It will work for what I'm wanting, I didn't want a gun that I will be mad if I scratch or would have to lay it on they ground.

Was the gun not brand new, then? They've listed all of them as brand new in box on gunbroker.com. I'd be interested to know if that was a bunch of hoo ha

I would say it's brand new. Cosmoline is what they coat the gun with to keep it from rusting when the ship the gun over from russia. You just don't normaly see them like that in a gun shop because they clean them up for the gun rack. Like I said for the price I'm not to disapointed. I have been think about have the barrel redone just to cover up a few blems in it. But I'm just being picky. I might wait til after the season to do it. But what should you expect for a $300 gun. I have'nt shot the gun yet but I messed around with snap caps in it and it seems to work fine. I might just have to go hunting on Thursday and try it out.

There has been quite a few posts on how stiff the action is when you get a new Baikal. This linkwill take you to the I Love My Baikal section at Shotgun World.
It's recommended reading. :)

Ya, $40 rebate if bought before 12/31/08 from Remington. It's list on their website. Mine seems to open and close pretty good, better than my buddy's bailal that I was trying out. But thanks for the extra reading. I'm always looking for info.

I would recommend that you all take a look at the Yildiz shot guns. The people who have them are extremly happy with them. The one draw back is that you can only get them from Academy Sports.
They are the sole importers and they won't ship so unless you live near enough to purchase one in person, you are kind of SOL. :|
If anyone could figure out a way to get oe to Colorado please let me know!

Well I got my gun last Wednesday. I was really disappointed with what i recieved.
My gun had several K-Mart stickers on the gun itself and on the box.
It had two long scratches on the barrels.
And worst of all, because of poor packaging it had two large gouges in the stock!
I will try to post some pictures as soon as i get a chance.

I refused the gun and thankfully had bought the shipping insurance.
I called Buds the next day and told them what had happened and the guy who i talked to wasn't very sympathetic.
He said that the K-Mart stickers were because they (Buds) had bought out everything that K-Mart had (thats why they could sell them so cheap).
And that mine must have been a display model, which is why it was repackaged incorrectly.
He gave me two options: my money back, or a new gun.
I chose the new gun, but he said that the A.T.F. regulations will not let them ship me a new gun until they have recieved and processed the damaged one.
So they sent out a call tag to pick up my gun and i recieved an e-mail this morning that it had been picked up and was ready to ship back to KY.
So it looks like i will not be recieving my replacement for a couple more weeks.
Hopefully this one will not be damaged.

I have had a run of bad luck with internet purchases lately, I also have to ship back my bird launcher and e-collar.

Well, I have a new update for everyone.
I got off the phone with Buds today and they said that my gun still isn't out of California!
Apparently there was a delay with the shipping because of the holidays and my gun wont get back to KY till 1-07-09.
So i asked when I could be expecting my replacement and they said that they are now out of stock on that gun and wont be able to ship me a new one till they get them back in (they also didn't know when they would get them back in stock).
I asked to speak with the manager and he said that I could probably be expecting it in another 2-3 weeks!

If it does come in on time, I am looking at 2 months from the date i paid for it till i can actually shoot the gun.

To say the least I am not very impressed with Bud's Gun Shop and will not be recomending them to anyone in the future.

Thanks for the update. I've been watching their inventory on those spartans waiting for my financial aid check to come in. 56-26 sounded fortunate to have a good experience. I might wait until they get them back in stock and take the chance...the price is just soooo good!

Well I took the dive as promised, since the financial aid check came in. Got the 20ga O/U Spartan. I noted in an email to them questioning why one of their shotguns came with soot material inside and out, although I can't remember who had that problem. He did say they will have cosmoline on them but was not aware of any soot issues.

Well everyone, I recieved my gun on friday.
It took almost 1 1/2 months to get it but the new one looks good and has nothing wrong with it.
I did miss out on the rebate though because all requests had to be recieved by remington by 1/15/09 and i recieved my gun on 1/16/09. :(
But at least i have my gun and this ordeal is over. :)

Well I'd say you technically received your gun before the date, you had to return it though. Maybe a polite call to remington explaining the ordeal without any solid expectations would help. You might be able to sway them on to your side.

Got my spartan o/u 20ga. Very pleased with the amount I spent, and I was surprised how fast it shipped. A little box sawdust on it, but nothing else.
If anyone else is worried about how stiff the action is on these spartans, a little gun oil and lots of playing around breaks it down fast. No Browning, though :D

I have a Baikal 20 gauge side by side in a left handed model since I shoot left handed. I traded a Weatherby model 82 for it and it was the best trade I ever made. It does not kick at all but I have a limbsaver pad on mine to increase the LOP since I am 6'3". I love it. I used it solely last year for pheasant and quail but bought a Yildiz O/U this year to use on pheasant but now that pheasant season is over our quail season has another 2 weeks left so I broke it back out and took 3 quail with it yesterday, the only ones I shot at. The only knock I have against mine is it came with 26" barrels rather than 28". In a SxS and O/U I like 28" barrels and I like 26" on a semi auto or pump. Just my personal preference. I like the sight plane you get with those lengths on those particular guns better. I do love that gun it makes me look like a better shooter than what I really am. :D :D :D

I just received my 20ga/26" Rem. 1100G3 ($777.00 delivered) from Bud's which was sent to my FFL dealer in Ca. VERY PLEASED! I have been searching their website for over a year. Prices are cheaper with s/h and FFL charge($85) than I can buy locally(don't have to pay the .875cent tax which almost payed the FFl charge) They include delivery in their prices. You can talk to them and they respond right away. http://www.budsgunshop.com

Just a side note, Abel Ammo, http://www.ableammo.com, is a great place to get shotgun shells. I have made multiple purchases and am very happy to recommend them for your shotgun ammo. I just received a case (4.29/box) of Lyalvale Super Cartridges L20288, 20 Gauge, 2.75", 1 oz, 1400 fps, #8 Shot, 25 Rd/Box for $62.83 which included the $19.93 shipping. (These were made in England and Lyalvale does have a website.) I can't find decent 20ga shells cheaper than $7/box plus $.875 tax here in CA.
Abel ammo also sells guns and accessories and I highly recomend them.

These are the two web sites I trust and do some of my ammo purchases (22LR,Choke tubes, 12 ga. steel & target + 20 ga.) and my comparison shopping.
