Ultralight beretta
Ultralight beretta
I shopped for a year for a light field gun. Purchased a Beretta ultralight to use for pheasants. My sporting beretta 687 32" weights over two pounds more than the ultralight and seemed to gain weight every couple of hours in the field.
Brought the new gun home and took it out too kill a box of clays. I dreamed of how much better I would shoot. Wrong!!!!!!!!!!! Got the new gun fitted and shot a little better. Hunted all season with the new gun. It was great to carry but was tough to keep it moving. I will practice a little more but and thinking of getting a 686 field gun and splitting the weight difference.

ever notice how tgreat hose "ultra-lites" fill when you first pick them up, but when you take them out into the real world and into actual use , how much you don't like them.
Re: Ultralight beretta
Maybe you just need to spend a little time at the patterning board? If it fits you, maybe the load/choke combo you are shooting doesn't throw a good pattern.
I purchased a Benelli Ultralight 12 ga last fall...it is a dream to carry. I patterned it with Kent Fasteel, Hevi Shot, and Black Cloud through both an improved cylinder and a modified choke...to make a long story short, this gun definitely preferred one load/choke combo.

Which combo worked the best. I use both IC and MOD shells didn't differ too much. I feel I was behind everything.
Re: Ultralight beretta
I'm not sure if this will be much help to you, since even the same make and model of gun could throw different patterns with the same choke and load, but for me combining an IC choke with 3 inch Kent Fasteel, 1 and 1/4 ounces of #4s at 1425 fps, throws a beautiful pattern. The Hevi Shot was pretty good, but definitely not better, and for $11 for a box of 25, I'll stick with the Kent.
For me, the Black Cloud threw a poor pattern.
I would definitey advise to spend a little time at the patterning board.

I have come to enjoy 28" tubes on a 28ga Rizzini.
Light weight and a nice swing.

good discussion-
curious-
my Berretta 20 auto weighs 5lbs 14oz
my Browning Citori 20 weighs 5lbs 13oz
both pattern well with 8, 7.5's, 7 steel- not into using heavy mag loads as I use cylinder and skeet tubes on uplands

Re: Ultralight beretta
I typically use my Franchi Veloce SP 20g....it weighs in at 5lbs 8oz. It is probably the best shooting gun I've ever owned...obviously a good fit for me. At times I swear it shoots itself!!! Last season I kept trying to use my backup gun (a Remington 1100 12g), but it felt like I was lugging around a tank barrel and couldn't seem to hit the broad side of a barn with it.....too big, too slow!
