Anyone have any experience with the cz mallard o/u? Also saw another post in here about the stock refinishing and was impressed with the look of the refinished baikal. How about the remington spartan line, good,bad?

CZ makes a good gun. Some like them, some don't but they are quality guns with pretty good balance and finish. I know one thing about the Spartans is you cannot break them even by driving over them. However, they are heavy and clunky and horribly balanced. I would go cz.

I have a spartan single shot 410, they are very durable guns that you dont care if they get beat up. They are a very good bang for the buck. The only thing is there not very fancy just basic guns. Usually no checkered stock or engravings just a plain gun. Over all they are good quaility and I have yet to have a single problem with mine.

The Spartans are made by Baikal for Remington.

CZ would be my choice. Several friends and family shooting them.

I've seen, handled, and shot a few of the Baikal's, not bad for the money but nothing I saw in them was an improvment over the CZ's. For fit, finish, balance, durability I just haven't seen anything that beats the CZ for anywhere near the same money.

Perhaps one of the more important things with all the lower priced doubles is the warranty. CZ's warranty work, and the ease with which you can get them to actually honor their warranty cannot be beat period.

I own seven of the CZ shotguns right now, and have shot just about everything in their line since their first one came out and I've been mightily impressed with all of them from a true value stand point. CR

I own a CZ Mallard. I have only put about 500 shells through it so far but I sure do like the balance and fit. It points very well for me. The double triggers might take a few rounds to get used to but I also understand that these triggers are more reliable than those that are single selective.

I have a Remington Spartan 310 12 gage O/U. It's alright, a little on the heavy side if you are going to be hunting all day with it. I need to take it apart and clean it real good. At times it will not fire the second Barrel.

Got the CZ Mallard. Not as nice as my Franchi but it was $600 cheaper. Impressed with the fit and finish and the wood is nice. You can tell some of the componets are not of the same quality. The recoil pad and the opening lever are most noticeable.

Did you get the 12 or 20? I am looking into the mallard as well.

I had thought the CZ shotgun was made in Czech Rep., but recently learned it's made in Turkey. I've been looking for a 20 S/S but want to be careful. I was considering the 20 G 28" Ringneck but think I'll pass and looking in the direction of used.
Think I'm going for a used Charles Daly 20 S/S (Miruko) or a Ithaca SKB 200E. I'll probably have to shell out a few hundred to make it work, but willing to do that. I have a 12G Citori Lightning Sporting Clay on consignment for 1200, less the 17% commission, gives me 1030 in funds to allocate for this deal. Also, going in, I know a trip to the gunsmith will be a must. I will want it drilled to IC-M (if I can't find one) or maybe get tru-chokes installed.

I got a 12
